Step 3: If you register it will save your information so you can just type in one user name and one password to login to all your clients at once without having to retype each of them every time.
Step 4: If you want a program that will install on your computer consider Trillian or Pidgin (click for the downloads). These programs have strengths and weaknesses, but in general I prefer the features available in Trillian.
